Dasha Buben

Dasha Buben was born in Gomel, Belarus. In 2010, she finished Belarusian State Academy of Arts. She worked as a photographer and art director for several independent magazines focusing on social problems, feminism, and LGBTQ rights. During this time, she made personal art projects using photography as the main medium. Because of her activism and work in independent media, she never felt safe in the current Belarusian regime. In 2015, she moved to Poland. In 2016, she finished Warsaw Academy of Photography. During that time, she worked with domestic abuse victims, researching topics of Feminism. In 2020, after the Belarusian Revolution, painting became the main medium of her work. The focus of her artistic research moved to personal experiences, such as overcoming trauma, dealing with mental health problems, going through depression, and more. She lives and works in Berlin, Germany.
