Residency | Manor at Biesenthal | Summer 2023
North of Berlin around 60 minutes by train from the central station, the forest property `Biesenthal` is located right next to the lake Wukensee. The premises extends over several buildings and 12.000m2 of forest. We are converting the manor of Biesenthal into a temporary artist residence with studios from 1st of May, 2023 until September the 30th, 2023.
The large wooden terrace at the back of the building serves as the meeting place of the residence and faces the forest and the other two buildings of the residence. One is the studio building with individual studios for all artists and the community workshop on the ground floor and the other is the spacious community auditorium for performing artists. On site, deeper in the forest, a small metal and iron workshop is hidden.
Next to the award of studio space, the residency program includes bi-weekly mentored studio visits, artist presentations and talks. To cover the program and studio costs a rate of 250€ net per month is required. All studios are clean and dry, have daylight and are in a ready-to-work state. The studios range between 20m2 - 30m2. Sanitary facilities exist in a 20’ sanitary container right in front of the residential building.
Terms can range between 1 and 5 months while all forms of art are welcomed. Artists have 24h access to the premises and are allowed to use the entire plot. At the end of the project, there will be a group exhibition of works created during the residency.
