The CAN series is an ongoing series of can pictures discussing the question of transience in our highly industrialized age. Shaped by the global crises of our era, a minority of the world‘s population is preparing for the downfall of civilization by hoarding food. Yet, they know that this product from technological age also has a best-before date.
The happy flower in aspic, kept in an industrially manufactured tin can, symbolizes an absurdity typical of the can series of works. It shows the transience of culture in a constantly changing world, up to and including its complete extinction. Is it sensible or even possible to preserve culture that is subject to constant change?
